Understanding the antecedents and the outcomes of spiritual awakening

In partnership with the Samadhi Centre and the Global Institute for Conscious Economics, Dr. Overall is the lead investigator on a research project involving spiritual awakenings. The intentions of this project involve:

1. Understanding the antecedents and outcomes of kensho awakenings;

2. Understanding the impact of ego on awakening;

3. Enhancing programing to stimulate more awakenings among various populations.

To achieve these intentions, Dr. Overall is advancing two phases of research. In phase one, he is conducting an exploratory qualitative assessment by interviewing several individuals who have experienced kensho awakenings. With knowledge of the main themes of awakening, a qualitative comparative analysis (fs/QCA) is to be conducted to model the various combinations of variables that lead to awakening. From the knowledge gained, in phase two, a large-scale quantitative assessment is to be conducted to generalize these findings among the greater population.
